Today in Hip-Hop — The Game released his debut studio album, ‘The Documentary.’ 20 years ago today on January 18, 2005, The Game introduced himself to the masses with a memorable first impression. ‘The Documentary’ features appearances from G-Unit label mates 50 Cent and Tony Yayo, Nate Dogg, Faith Evans, and more. As well as production from Dr. Dre, Kanye West, Just Blaze, Timbaland, Cool & Dre, Hi-Tek, and more. With two Top 10 hits on the Billboard 100 — “How We Do” and “Hate It or Love It” — ‘The Documentary’ reached No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and was certified double Platinum. Although the album essentially introduced Game as G-Unit’s West Coast representative, ‘The Documentary’ would be his only release on G-Unit and Aftermath.
