Introduced in 1927, the Type 43 was essentially a road-going version of Bugatti’s legendary Type 35 Grand Prix car. Equipped with the 2,262cc engine and Roots supercharger from the Type 35B, the car featured a new curved chassis inspired by its racing predecessor. Sporting Type 35 wheels, as well as the larger radiator and brakes from the Type 38, the Type 43 became a formidable contender in sports car racing, with success on both factory and privateer campaigns.
This 1928 Bugatti Type 43 Grand Sport boasts matching numbers for its chassis, engine, rear axle, and gearbox, underscoring its authenticity and originality. Extensively documented, including the 2022 Laugier report and archive copies, this car is eligible for renowned international events such as the Mille Miglia. It is offered with a Belgian registration document.
