Nearly two years after a Norfolk Southern train derailed and spilled thousands of gallons of harmful chemicals into East Palestine, nearby bar the State Line Tavern has filed a $5 million lawsuit for physical, emotional and economic damages. The bar, located about a block away from the derailment, has remained closed since the event.
“Our whole life was taken away from us, really," co-owner Kelly Berresford shared with Cleveland Magazine last year. "We’re just the only ones in town that can’t open. Everyone else is functioning and open, and there are no answers for us, none at all. And it’s a terrible feeling.”
