Please join us in congratulating Ambassador Stuart E “Stu” Jones L’86 on his new position as President and Chief Executive Officer at the Middle East Institute (MEI)! Stu comes to MEI from Bechtel, a global engineering, construction, and project management firm, from which he is retiring as Senior Vice President and President for Regions and Corporate Relations. Prior to Bechtel, Stu served for three decades as a U.S. Foreign Service officer with the U.S. State Department. His tenure at State included tours as U.S. Ambassador to Jordan and U.S. Ambassador to Iraq. Stu’s other State Department assignments included: Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for NEA, Deputy Assistant Secretary in the Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs (EUR), and Deputy Chief of Mission in Baghdad and Cairo.
