Carolina opened up a double-digit lead against Wake Forest in the first quarter and cruised to a 76-51 win Thursday night in Carmichael Arena. It’s UNC’s fifth straight victory.
Lexi Donarski stayed hot, scoring a team-high 17 points and knocking down five of Carolina’s eight three-pointers on the night. Donarski has now made 15 combined threes in her last three games.
Three of the threes came in the first quarter, as UNC raced out to a 22-6 lead after 10 minutes. But Wake Forest clawed back, whittling the lead down to as little as two points at 30-28 late in the second quarter. After taking a 32-28 lead into the half, UNC pushed the lead back in double digits by the middle of the third quarter. The Demon Deacons wouldn’t get closer than 10 for the rest of the night, and Carolina closed on a 9-0 run to finish with a 25-point edge.
