🪷 In honor of Women's History Month and the ongoing ✊🏿 Black History Month celebrations on campus, we present today's illustrious alumna: @kiela.adira ✨💐💫 Kiéla Adira '18 is a Chicago-based vocalist, songwriter, creative director, and educator whose music spans multiple genres including R&B, soul, jazz, and hip hop. She graduated from Oberlin with majors in theater and Africana Studies and was the founding creative director of Oberlin’s Black History Month Fashion Show, an annual event that celebrates Black culture and beauty. Kiéla credits Gallery 37 Center for the Arts — a program founded by former first-lady of Chicago Maggie Daley, and HHW School for the Performing Arts — as vital formative experiences for her musically. Through HHW, Kiéla's voice has reached prominent audiences, singing for audiences like the Vice Premier of China, the French Delegation, cellist Yo-Yo Ma, and in 2019, the inauguration of former Mayor Lori Lightfoot.
