Scenes from the recent Oberlin Opera Theatre production "Albert Herring," performed during Parents and Families Weekend in November. Benjamin Britten's only true comedy, Albert Herring, is about a shy, innocent boy who, frustrated with small-town conventions, breaks free from the expectations of society and discovers his confidence, independence, and self-worth.
This three-act chamber opera was composed in 1946-47, with a libretto by Eric Crozier based on Guy de Maupassant's novella Le Rosier de Madame Husson.
The opera was directed by Stephanie Harvey and conducted by Michael Sakir '06. View the full album at the link in bio.
