Abby Tejera, a double major in computer science and physics with an astrophysics concentration, is making waves (gravitational ones, to be precise) this summer in Livingston, Louisiana, interning at The Laser Interferometer Gravitational-Wave Observatory (LIGO) Scientific Collaboration.
After shining bright with her undergrad research at Oberlin, she was selected to be mentored by Dr. Gabriela González, the voice behind LIGO's groundbreaking Nobel Prize-winning discovery in 2017.
Abby is helping pilot LIGO's newest research phase, Observing Run 4, gaining experience with state-of-the-art research instruments. Abby's summer research culminated in her presenting her research at Louisiana State University.
Abby has also made amazing connections that will help her continue groundbreaking research well after her time in Oberlin. Check out these photos that Abby shared from her three-month adventure at LIGO 😎
