Coming to the Grand Palais on 6 February: the 1969 Matra MS640 Continuation, Chassis no. 02. Equipped with the engine and gearbox from MS640-01 and driven by endurance racing legend Henri Pescarolo, this prototype is a testament to Matra’s innovation and passion for motorsport. Presented with original period documentation, it is eligible for prestigious events, though offered strictly for track use and without registration. Matra’s automotive journey began in 1964 under the leadership of Jean-Luc Lagardère, a visionary who transformed the company from its origins in armaments into a motorsport powerhouse. Matra Sports pursued excellence with unrelenting ambition, achieving 124 wins and 104 lap records from 334 races between 1964 and 1975. Its crowning achievement came in 1969 when Jackie Stewart, piloting the Matra MS80, secured the Formula 1 World Championship, alongside a Constructors’ Championship, placing Matra—and France—at the forefront of motorsport history.
