Nice became the birthplace of long-distance triathlon in Europe in 1982 when it first hosted the “Triathlon International de Nice”. The race was supposed to be organized in Monaco but the sudden death of Grace Princess of Monaco meant they had to cancel the project in the principality.  In 2019 Nice hosted the IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship, which saw Gustav Iden (NOR), Alistair Brownlee (GBR), and Rudy Von Berg (USA) come top three in the men’s race, and and Daniela Ryf (SUI), Holly Lawrence (GBR) and Imogen Simmonds (SUI) in the women’s race. This year we are looking forward to hosting the Men’s IRONMAN World Championship! #IRONMANworldchampionship | #IRONMANtri | #NiceFrance
