We went into the delicious depths of Theory’s Design and Innovation Center located smack dab in NYC. I met Wendy Waugh, the SVP Of Sustainability at Theory, who has been at the company for 24 years and wields not one phone but two (so you know she is serious). She showed me the ropes of what goes on in this one-stop-shop of production, aka almost everything is sampled and tested in ONE PLACE! NOT OUTSOURCED! The proof is downstairs, where the magic happens, aka Rudy Golpie, the Head of the Cutting Room who’s been with Theory for a whopping 19 years. There, I got a PhD lesson in what it takes to make a scientifically PERFECT blazer and the zillions of steps it takes. Unfortunately, I am no longer allowed within 500 feet of the Theory premises because I may or may not have walked out with a dozen of the brand’s perfect blazers.
