Why did ESPN fire Zach Lowe? Because the company is solely focused on two things: 1) preserving its lucrative cable affiliate fees by paying billions annually for premium sports rights and 2) employing talent that promotes those games on social media and TV. Lowe’s content sat somewhere in between, mostly behind the ESPN paywall if we are being honest. And while leaving ESPN might sting in the short-term, his content will be even better when it’s independent. P.S.
