Next up in our summer spotlight series is rising junior Avery Fortier (AC ‘21) who spent her summer conducting psoriatic arthritis research through VUSRP.
In this lab, Avery worked to create an algorithm to identify positive cases in Vanderbilt specific electronic health records (check her out at the Undergraduate Research Fair September 8th at 4:30 pm!). She was also able to shadow multiple doctors and surgeons at VUMC, including her PI! She then returned home to Boston to finish her summer as the director of the Lexington Debate Institute where she teaches middle schoolers fundamental debate techniques!
