The original concept art for the Auburn Arena features a few interesting details.
The most noticeable design is that of the seats. Most of the 9,121 seats would be either orange or navy and placed in a pattern to represent large tiger stripes. The final version would make the lower and upper level seats blue while the center level was orange. An "AU" was created by blue seats in the southern section.
The concept court design also features a few details that didn't come to fruition. The center court AU logo is an unapproved design, with orange letters surrounded by a navy and white outline. While the paint area would indeed be orange for the first court design, the navy borders didn't appear until the court was repainted in 2016.
The wordmarks placed on the border at midcourt were also years beyond their use. The midcourt placement was a design feature held over from Beard-Eaves Memorial Coliseum, but the Arena would leave the text along the baselines only.
