đź‘‹Meet Evelyne from Burkina Faso - businesswoman, mother-of-five, farmer.
Supporting herself and her family by growing and selling food at the market has not always been easy. Low rainfall and unpredictable seasons made earning money and having enough food at home a regular struggle.
But for over a year now she has been one of over 100 members of The Sonder Project's
#communityfarm in her community of Komsnedego which provides access to year-round solar-powered irrigation. This means Evelyne, and the other members, can harvest crops throughout the year, compared to 1 annual harvest depending on the rain.
“I joined in 2023. I told my mother-in-law, and we joined together,” Evelyne says. “Thanks to the farm, my business is growing, and we’re earning enough to feed ourselves at home,” she says. She cooks meals to sell at the weekly market in her area, often saving money by harvesting produce directly from her land.
