Hacienda El Tambo by tierradelvolcan dates back to Incan Times where it served as a Tambo, or Inn for travelers going into the Amazon basin. The ancient Tambo was destroyed by Spanish Conquistadors until tierradelvolcan rebuilt it using the same stone carved by the Incas over 500 years ago along with volcanic stone from Cotopaxi’s eruptions and straw. Now Hacienda El Tambo sits on the Condor Bioreserve on the slopes of Quilindaña Volcano. The Hacienda is truly off-grid and is only accessible by 4x4 trucks, horses, or a 10 mile hike (the option we chose). We were treated to music by Chagra legend Gerando Candon, who is playing the track for this reel. Every year, the Chagras drive cattle down to El Tambo, an event I’m dying to return for as I only missed it by a week this trip. #TierraDelVolcan #LegendaryMoments #AdventureTravel, #SustainableTourism, #LegendaryTrek #TransformationaTravel #ecuador #cotopaxi #chagras #haciendaeltambo
