Deaf President Now, a documentary by alumni, Nyle DiMarco, ’13, is premiering at the Sundance Film Festival TODAY! The film highlights the pivotal DPN protests of 1988, brought to life with help from the Gallaudet University Archives, which houses over 2,000 historical items.
Archives Director Jim McCarthy recalls, “When Nyle reached out, there was no question we’d be involved.” The team spent over a year collaborating with Concordia Studios, digging through memorabilia, photos, and footage to ensure authenticity—and even shipped a specific TTY used in 1988 to L.A. for the film!
Jim shares, “I’m proud of what we did. It’s not just Gallaudet history; it’s our shared history.”
Congratulations to all involved, and thank you for helping share the DPN story!
