The Moon… like you’ve never seen it before!⁣ ⁣ You are probably only used to seeing the Moon’s near side, which is the side that is always facing Earth. Because the Moon rotates at the same rate as it orbits Earth, we never see the other side, or the far side, from our home planet. What you see here is the Moon’s north pole, which is the northernmost point on the Moon. ⁣ ⁣ Cameras aboard our Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter spacecraft captured 983 images of the north pole over a one month period. Scientists pieced together these images to form the mosaic you see here. This mosaic shows the pole when it is best illuminated.⁣ ⁣ Image description: The cratered, dimpled surface of the Moon’s north pole region. The vantage point of the viewer is as if you were looking straight down at the surface. The lunar surface appears in many shades of gray against a black background.⁣ ⁣ Credit: NASA/GSFC/Arizona State University⁣ ⁣ #Moon #NorthPole #LRO #Lunar #Artemis #Mosaic
