I visited the Marvel store at Disney Springs in Walt Disney World and noticed something strange—despite the upcoming release of Captain America: Brave New World, there was no merchandise promoting the film. No posters, no displays, and barely any recognition of Anthony Mackie’s Captain America. The only item featuring Mackie’s Sam Wilson as Captain America? A single collectible pin.
Mackie has been part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) since Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014) and officially took on the mantle of Captain America in 2021’s The Falcon and the Winter Soldier on Disney+. Yet, at the Disney-owned Marvel store, there was nothing highlighting his role.
The only Sam Wilson representation I found was a comic book version of Falcon, positioned outside the store behind a Black Panther display. Meanwhile, the AMC Theaters down the street had promotional material for the movie, making the lack of in-store presence even more glaring.
