A Culver City, California man has avoided jail time after pleading guilty to unsafely operating a drone that collided with a Super Scooper as it was fighting the Palisades Fire. Fifty-six-year-old Peter Tripp Akemann reportedly launched the drone from atop a Santa Monica parking structure on January 9th, flying it over 1.5 miles in the direction of the Palisades Fire before he lost sight of it and it hit the firefighting aircraft. Akemann will still need to pay full restitution for the damage of the aircraft, and do 150 hours of community service in wildfire relief. 🎥 Reuters #news #losangeles #wildfire #pacificpalisades #crime
