EPIC COMEBACK AT MANOR: After being down 7-1 in the second inning, the varsity softball team came back to beat the Manor Mustangs 9-8. According to junior Zara Cacci, the softball players’ key to rallying lay in believing in their abilities.
“I think we just had to realize that we are going to play better teams and that we can come back,” Cacci said. “I’m really proud of all the effort that everyone put in.”
Another part of the Knights’ comeback was adjusting their hitting to match the speed of Manor’s pitcher.
“People really started to realize how to time up the pitcher really well because she was slower,” Cacci said. “We really got the hang of what she was throwing.”
The softball team began to cut into Manor’s lead over the next few innings with a series of singles and doubles; however, they didn’t take the lead until the top of the sixth inning, when sophomore Nichelle Floyd hit a two-run homer with one out, a full count and a runner on third base.
