The Barn was approached to create a logo mark for the uplandcds 25th annual girls hockey tournament. A program with decades of history we wanted to make sure this mark was in line with that kind of prominence in athletics. Mixing in 3 major aspects, we wanted the details to subtly shine through for this event pushing through one of The Barn Creative’s mottos of “Celebrating Traditions” . . First we used a banner shape for the over all badge. With every tournament win the uplandhockey girls raise a black on yellow banner to the rafters. So this overall shape needed to look like it was being perceived from ice level with the viewer looking up at it. . Secondly the John M. Cleveland Ice Rink had to be a vital point in the design as it is just as historic as the team. Not only is having a rink on campus for a preK-9th grade program amazing, it has a ton of character that only “old barns” do. . Third we wanted to sneak in the schools U logo into the mark.
