Noname‘s book club, which sends two free books a month to incarcerated people, was recently saved by fans after she took to Instagram to ask for help. Since making the request, she increased her paid subscriber base from 5,900 to 10,000.
The self-titled book club functions both inside and outside correctional facilities, sending stories written by Black, indigenous, and other people of color.
“February was slated to be the month we close operations due to a lack of funds. Now i’m sitting here crying tears of joy. I can’t thank y’all enough.”
At her next target of 15,000 paid subscribers, Noname's goal is to move 300 incarcerated people off the waitlist. Subscriptions range from $1-10 a month.
