Junior Evan Herrin credited the team’s ability to shift tactics after halftime as the turning point in the match.
“We made sure that we were going to win the midfield and be able to control the rest of the game,” Herrin said. “We need to stop just kicking it up and hoping it works out. The way we need to win games is through our midfield and then up and through.”
McCallum started fast, with junior Thomas Seibert scoring just 25 seconds into the match after he intercepted a LASA pass and fired a pass to a streaking Gianni Lento who drew the goalkeeper out of position, which created an open net for the opportunistic Seibert after he gained possession of the rebound.
