🪖 𝐂𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐭𝐬 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐅𝐮𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐅𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 ⚔️ Two #USAFA cadets developed a plan to map and combat the spread of dwarf mistletoe, an invasive species threatening trees at the Academy through their Department of Economics and Geosciences class project. This project was more than a sustainability exercise. The experience afforded the cadets the opportunity to display their geospatial skills as future warfighters. Capt. Jared Dumale, a Geosciences instructor and intelligence officer notes, “not every cadet is destined to become a geoscientist, but every cadet is expected to be a warfighter. The spatial association of these characteristics is part of a larger process that includes the gathering of information and communicating it to a decision-maker or strategic leader.
