As we prepare for the 2025 Arnold Strongman and Strongwoman Classic, we’re looking back at some of the event’s defining moments. In 2018, @thorbjornsson, @shawstrength, @jerrypritchettstrongman, and @jfcaronstrongman aimed to break the previous year’s 1,031 lb Elephant Bar Deadlift record in Columbus, Ohio, before an eager crowd. Typically held at the start of the competition, the Deadlift event was moved to the final day, where Hafthor lifted 1,041 lbs to set a new record. This gave him a 3.5-point lead heading into the last event of the 2018 Arnold Strongman Classic, where he secured his first Arnold title.
