THE END OF AN ERA, THE START OF MANY MORE: Tuesday evening, the girls basketball JV-B team put everything into their final game against the Bastrop Bears. Despite ending up on the short end of a 54-24 final score, the players took great pride in their individual and collective improvement over the course of the long season. JV-B coach Ivan Gonzalez believes the girls played well under pressure from the Bears. “We learned that Bastrop had combined their JV and freshman teams, so they came out with a lot of power,” he said. “For most of our practice yesterday, we focused on our press breaker and playing aggressively. It was challenging because we didn’t know what kind of pressure they were going to put on us; however, at the end of the day, they did well.
