Did you know that without Dr. Gladys West, GPS navigation wouldn’t exist? 📡 A Virginia Tech alum and trailblazing mathemetician, Dr. West’s work in satellite geodesy helped lay the foundation for the Global Positioning System (GPS). As one of the few Black women working in STEM during the Jim Crow era, she broke barriers and made history with her contributions.
