A panther and an opossum walk into a backyard.... Did you know? Virginia opossums account for roughly 5% of a Florida panther's diet, according to Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission. Lucky for this opossum, this panther was uninterested in a late night bite. Witnessing a Florida panther is a special treat, though one of Florida's most iconic species, only around 120-230 remain in existence. Habitat loss, fragmentation and degradation all threaten this species, but among the biggest threats: vehicle collisions.
