GEARING UP: At the start of its season, the track team conducted time trials Wednesday morning and after school to determine who will run which event at the first season meet next Thursday, the WAMM Relays. Each person tried out for either the 100 meters, 200 meters or the 400 meters, hoping to get the fastest time they could, without it being an overly serious competition.
This year marks sophomore Alice Roquemore’s second year in track, and she tried out for the 100- and 200-meter trials and was confident in her times.
“Everyone was hyping each other up, so it wasn’t competitive,” Roquemore said. “I think it went pretty well. I definitely could have pushed myself a little more, but I feel good about it.”
Roquemore faced the rising temperatures, as she completed her time trials after school, compared to the people who completed them in the morning, with much cooler weather.
