Would not recommend mile 10 of the half marathon 🥵😅
Half marathon debut ✔️ first race in as a oiselle athlete ✔️ survived mile 10 (barely)✔️
4th place at mesamarathon half in 71:10
This whole training block, I struggled to feel confident in my fitness, and during this race those thoughts continued. At mile 10, I did not think I’d be able to finish. My friend ryancoxak was running next to me and I said “my legs are gone.” He responded “everyone’s are.” That snapped me out of my negative mental spiral pretty quick, and I was able to finish out the last 3 miles with some of my fastest splits of the race. Sometimes it’s good to have a reminder that training and racing are supposed to be hard—that’s literally the point. It felt good to have a hard race and make something good out of it. Proud of my performance, but also hungry for better 👏
