Canisius had a tremendous Sunday at the New York State Catholic High School Athletic Association championships, highlighted by Peter Peyser ’25 winning two state titles and being a part of two school records. Peyser, of Buffalo, won the 50-yard freestyle in 20.80, which lowered his own school record, and the 100 freestyle (45.63) at the Nassau County Aquatic Center in East Meadow, Long Island. Peyser was also part of the 200 medley relay which broke a 14-year-old school record in finishing in third place. Gabe Russel-Webster ’27 of Amherst, Peyser, Atticus Young ’26 of Buffalo and Joe Skoumpris ’25 of Williamsville finished in 1:35.30, besting the 2011 record of 1:36.36 set by Garrett Graesser ’11, Christian Westermeier ’13, Kyle Smith ’11 and Andrew Monte ’11.
