We're happy to introduce one of 2025 Vic Awards judges, Griffin Lotson!
Griffin Lotson serves as Vice-Chair of the National Gullah Geechee Cultural Heritage Corridor Commission and Mayor Pro Tem of Darien, Georgia. Lotson is the manager of the internationally acclaimed Gullah Geechee Ring Shouters and the author of "Kumbaya," a groundbreaking book about the famous song's origins. He is credited for uncovering the hidden history of "Kumbaya" and has been honored on Capitol Hill and in Georgia.
A 2020 White House President’s Volunteer Service Award recipient, he is also a certified International and State Goodwill Ambassador.
Lotson's work extends globally, consulting for the U.S. Library of Congress, National African-American Museum, Smithsonian, and more. His expertise in Gullah Geechee culture and "Kumbaya" has led to roles with major film productions and TV shows like Queen Sugar and The Color Purple.
