Wairēinga Falls – A Hidden Gem of Our NZ Adventure!
Throwing it back to January last year, when we made a day trip out of one of our rare weekends off while working on a yacht in Auckland. We explored a few spots, but honestly, Wairēinga Falls (Bridal Veil Falls) was the showstopper of the day.
The 55m drop of the falls was mesmerizing from every angle—whether standing at the top, looking down at the plunge pool, or feeling the mist at the base. It’s one of those places where you could sit for hours, just soaking in the beauty (which is exactly what we did).
The rock formation around the falls is basalt, formed from ancient volcanic activity! Over thousands of years, the soft sandstone eroded away, leaving behind this dramatic cliff face. Pretty cool, right?
Would you chase waterfalls like this or stick to the beaches? Drop a 🌊 if you’re team waterfall!
