According to the complaint, the incident occurred around June 23, 2024 when the mother — who was 36 weeks pregnant — was admitted to UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital Oakland with fluid leakage and increased contractions.
The lawsuit alleges that the mother endured an “arduous and life-threatening labor,” during which hospital staff failed to “provide appropriate pre-natal care,” delayed performing a cesarean section despite her request to do so and mishandled the administration of Pitocin, a hormone injected to help induce labor.
