Before I started speaking up about mental health, there were very few male voices prominently doing so in the ski world. paddyroc was in a real, vulnerable, honest way. Of course, part of my motivation in speaking up was knowing I had the ability to help people feel less alone. By previously speaking up about his journey with mental health, alcoholism, and addiction, he helped me feel less alone—and that’s part of what gave me the strength to start doing what I do now. Next Monday, February 17, Paddy and I are doing an event together with telluridemountainclub in, you guessed it, Telluride. We’ll be screening Feel It All and Paddy and I will be having a conversation on stage. I’ve spent a lot of time on stage in the past few years, but rarely do I get the opportunity to share a stage with another vulnerable, emotional man who I call a dear friend.
