Goodbye, Earth. Hello, Moon 🌝
After a successful maneuver on Feb. 8, FireflyAerospace’s Blue Ghost Mission 1 has departed Earth’s orbit and begun its four-day journey to the Moon’s orbit. Blue Ghost will spend about 16 days in lunar orbit before descending to the surface of the Moon on Mar. 2.
Blue Ghost successfully launched from NASAKennedy on Jan. 15. Since launching more than four weeks ago, the lunar lander has performed dozens of health tests generating 15 gigabytes of data. All 10 NASA science and technology payloads onboard are healthy.
Blue Ghost is a part of our lunar delivery initiative to send NASA science and technology to the Moon ahead of crewed Artemis missions.
