The second I turned 17 I started experiencing a decline in my mental health. I could never stay consistently happy, and I found so much comfort in feeling BAD for myself. Depression was like an addiction.
In my mind any and everything wasn’t good enough… or more importantly I wasn’t good enough. I couldn’t be the best son, brother, friend, student, athlete, artist, creative, etc.
HOWEVER it gets greater later!
After learning how to truly take a step back and observe life through a lens of gratitude and understanding, I was able to find fulfillment in the life I CHOOSE to live each day. Running has always been an outlet of mine since I was a child. It gave me a chance to experience freedom. To put a distance between me and everything that was mentally chasing me down. A source of physical exertion to alleviate the mental taxation I woke up with every morning.
