#ACandleintheDarkGala: Dr. Marvin Dunn ’61 will receive the #BennieAward in Service in this year’s Gala and #ReflectionsofExcellence student experience at RAYPAC on Saturday, Feb. 15 at 11am.⁠ ⁠ A distinguished psychologist, historian, author, and activist, Dr. Dunn’s journey began in a barn in an orange grove in DeLand, Florida. Born to a migrant family, he rose to earn his bachelor’s degree in psychology from Morehouse College, where he befriended future leaders like Maynard H. Jackson and Dr. David Satcher. Dr. Dunn served in the U.S. Navy and later earned his doctorate in psychology, going on to serve a 34-year tenure at FIU. There, he founded the Cultural & Human Interaction Center and co-produced impactful documentaries on Black Florida history.
