HAIR LOVE: The Students of Color Alliance hosted a Black History Month movie on Thursday in the library during lunch. The movie was called “Hair Love.” It’s about a young girl who learns to love her curly hair. Sophomore A.J. Brown said that the group wanted to spread the love and share a particular struggle that Black Americans deal with by showing the movie short. “We wanted to showcase different struggles that people of color go through, especially those with curly hair and how it can be hard to manage,” Brown said, “but we also wanted to show that you should really love it and love your body.” Brown explained that he wanted to share a different cultural perspective. “I ultimately just wanted to show a different point of view in what different people go through but also how to love themselves, and how to love each other,” Brown said.
