Take Brightline to MiamiCentral and explore the history of Virginia Key Beach!
Did you know? In 1945, it became Miami’s only beach for Black residents, providing a sanctuary during segregation. Initially accessible only by boat, the 1947 opening of the Rickenbacker Causeway made it more popular. Though closed in 1982, the beach was restored and reopened in 2008, now recognized on the National Register of Historic Places. A must-visit for Black History Month!
