The Portland Winter Light Festival has wrapped up, but one fiery guardian remains: Dread of Dufur, the fire-breathing dragon sculpture by Glen Boyd and Ivan McLean, still stands at Salmon Springs Fountain, drawing curious onlookers. Originally 80 feet long and built for What The Fest in Dufur, Oregon, only its front third made it through the city to its festival perch. The 10th anniversary of the festival ran February 7–15, featuring 200+ glowing installations, from massive sculptures to interactive displays. Attendance was expected to rival last year’s 274,000 visitors, proving Portland’s love for a good light show. Now, as most installations vanish, Dread of Dufur remains—a final ember of the light festival. Note: The photos of the dragon at night were taken last week when the festival was underway.
