Shanté Curry, a triage nurse with Penn Family Care, embodies compassionate health care, whether she is ensuring timely access to medication for marginalized groups or boosting coworkers’ morale during team huddles.
When Curry won a 2024 Rosalyn J. Watts Award for Community/Patient/Family Relationships, in the audience was her 89-year-old Nana, who never attained her own dream of becoming a nurse and has championed Curry’s career. “She was very instrumental in me becoming a nurse,” Curry says. “I can only hope I can make her proud.”
