In addition to the gallery exhibit, the library acquired Tan’s “extraordinary collection” which consists of 62 boxes, including never-before-seen work. Part of the collection includes the manuscripts and drafts for her early work, including The New York Times bestseller “The Joy Luck Club.” The entire archive of her life’s work will become available to the public after archivists process and catalog the collection, which will likely take about two years. Researchers and visitors will be able to access the material on-site in the library’s reading room.
