“My dear friends, your vote is precious, almost sacred. It is the most powerful nonviolent tool we have to create a more perfect union.” —John Lewis, 2012 A key player of the Civil Rights Movement, John Lewis began fighting for equal representation and justice at an early age. He continued this commitment throughout his life. Elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 1986, he served for 34 years in Congress. He wrote several books, including Walking with the Wind and March, receiving national acclaim. He died in July 2020. Tomorrow (02/21) would have been John Lewis’s birthday, and we will be contributing to the #JohnLewisSelfie campaign, organized by johnlewisfoundation. We encourage everyone to participate by posting a photo of John Lewis on their story! #BHM #JohnLewis #BlackHistoryIsAmericanHistory
