Nearly 15 years ago, an Iowa father turned to writing. Struggling with sobriety, his own life obstacles and learning how to be a parent to a son with autism, he said he did it to save himself. Scott LeRette, father to Austin and Justin and husband to Teresa, is originally from Red Oak. When he first started writing "Unbreakable Boy," he said the message wasn't for anybody but himself. He was just journaling and didn't know he was writing a book, much less inspiring a movie. Now, more than 10 years after the book was published, the family's story has made it to the big screen.
