The Department of Government Efficiency has cut thousands of jobs from federal agencies, including the Internal Revenue Service, the Department of Veterans Affairs and the Forest Service.
Some of these employees were officially fired "for performance" — but Reuters reports they were told otherwise by their supervisors and others.
Derek Copeland, who was fired from the U.S. Department of Agriculture, says there is "obviously a disconnect" with the terminations and that, shortly before being let go, he received a letter of recommendation from his boss.
