Nat D. Williams – The Voice That Changed Black Radio 🎙️
Before Memphis became a music powerhouse, before B.B. King hit the stage, there was Nat D. Williams—the voice that changed the game! 🎙️🔥
In 1948, Williams made history as the first Black DJ on WDIA, the first radio station in the U.S. programmed for a Black audience. His show, Tan Town Jubilee, brought rhythm & blues to the airwaves, launching careers and amplifying Black voices like never before.
But he was more than a DJ—he was a teacher at Booker T. Washington High, a journalist for the Memphis World, and a true pioneer of Black culture in the South.
His legacy lives on in every Memphis beat, every radio wave, and every story told.
Salute to a Memphis legend! 🏆🎤
