For the first 6 years of my pro career, I NEVER touched a weight! I didn’t go near them. I didn’t see the point. I was worried about getting arm pump. And honestly… I sorta hated it. Because back then, my training was very simple: Two 40-minute motos on the dirt bike, then go hammer out a two-hour mountain bike ride with little bro J Mart and our good pal Johnny O’Mara. That was the routine. So I figured, “Hey, it’s working, so why change it?” But here’s the funny part… The year I finally caved and started lifting was also the year I won my first-ever national at age 26. Was it a coincidence? Don’t think so. Looking back, I’m really glad I made the switch to combine cardio and strength because it felt like a wake-up call. I had insane endurance, sure. But my body?
