If you find yourself in Drumheller, put your bravery to the test on the Star Mine Suspension Bridge 🌁⁠ ⁠ The bridge was originally built in 1931 for miners to get to work but was shut down in 1957 when it fell into disrepair and the mines in the area closed down. This didn’t last long, as the Alberta government rebuilt it just a year later to honour and commemorate the history of mining in Drumheller.⁠ ⁠ Although it did close down for another four years in 2020 (and honestly, it’s good that we’re not taking any chances with bridge safety) it’s back open once more and ready for action 🤩⁠ ⁠ Today, the bridge is a favourite among locals for fishing and accessing the beautiful Badlands terrain. And of course, those who visit for the bridge itself.
